Effective occupational health and safety training takes more than technical knowledge. Safety trainers must also understand how adults learn, how to maintain their attention, how to communicate with credibility, and how to turn information into safer workplace behaviours.

This practical online course equips participants with the tools, psychological techniques, and training strategies needed to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective safety training. Learners will explore adult learning principles, the ADDIE model, presentation and facilitation skills, group dynamics, and the specific requirements of virtual training delivery.

Designed for professionals who deliver toolbox talks, orientations, onboarding sessions, presentations, or other workplace instruction, this course helps participants train with confidence, clarity, and impact.

2. Planning and Preparing Effective Training

·       Prepare participants by communicating key training details in advance

3. Engaging Participants and Managing Group Dynamics

After completing this element, you will be able to:

·       Manage attention and use three layers of learner engagement to overcome resistance

·       Apply six principles of andragogy to make adult learning more effective

·       Engage learners from different generations in safety training

·       Engage leaders and managers in safety training

·       Manage group dynamics, including in large groups

4. Presentation Skills for the Safety Trainer

5. Launching, Delivering, and Wrapping Up Training

6. Virtual Training Delivery
