Course Duration:

100 hours of content to be completed within 6 months at a normal pace. This self-paced format is designed to accommodate the schedules of busy professionals.

 

Access to the online course through Canadian Safety Institute's Learning Management System is provided for a maximum of 9 (nine) months, unless otherwise specified in your course agreement.

 

Syllabus Overview:

1.     Understanding the moral, financial, and legal reasons for managing health and safety in the workplace.

2.     The workings of health and safety management systems (ILO-OSH 2001 and ISO 45001:2018).

3.     Risk management – understanding people and processes, including:

·       Tools to enhance safety culture, emphasizing the understanding of human factors in incidents.

·       Focus on risk assessment, managing change, and developing comprehensive contingency plans.

4.     Active and reactive monitoring, measuring safety performance, incident investigation and cause analysis, and HSMS audits.

5.     Addressing physical and psychological health concerns (noise, vibration, radiation, work-related mental ill-health, violence at work, substance abuse at work).

6.     Musculoskeletal health, ergonomics, and hazards and controls associated with manual handling and load-handling equipment.

7.     Understanding of chemical and biological agents.

8.     Workplace hazards and risk control (health, welfare, work environment, working at height, safe working in confined spaces, lone working, safe movement of people and vehicles in the workplace).

9.     Work equipment safety, including general requirements, hand-held tools, machinery hazards, and control measures for reducing risks from machinery hazards.

10.  Fire safety.

11.  Electrical safety.

Examination Format:

Assessment involves a two-step process:

·       An open-book online written examination to assess knowledge.

·       A practical risk assessment carried out in your workplace or another suitable workplace.

All assessments are rigorously marked by NEBOSH examiners.

 

Upon passing these assessments, you'll receive the NEBOSH International General Certificate.
